Affinity Group Community Member Agreement

The Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) is committed to providing a welcoming and supportive experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, body size, race, color, age, religion, national origin, economic status, or political affiliation.

Affinity Groups are informal, APAP-sponsored gatherings meant to foster connection among APAP members with a shared interest, responsibility, identity or experience. When participating in an affinity group activity, all participants agree to adhere to the following:

Community and Commerce

Learning and Discovery

Other Initiatives

  1. Recognize affinity groups spaces as a “no-selling” zone. Participants will not engage in selling, pitching their work, artists, or projects. Affinity groups are not meant for commerce but for relationship building. They are designed to gather arts professional peers around common issues, roles and themes, and offer mutually supportive spaces to share, seek guidance or expertise and engage in peer discussion.
  2. Step Up, Step Back: Affinity groups are a place for your questions, knowledge, and guidance. We ask that you “step up” when needed, but also “step back” to give others the chance to express themselves.
  3. Recognize that everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn.
  4. Be Kind, Be Courteous: Affinity groups are for everyone in this space. APAP aspires to treat everyone with fairness, respect and dignity, and we expect the same from Affinity Group members.
Not abiding by the guidelines could result in verbal warnings from facilitators and APAP Staff, suspension from the affinity group, or removal from the affinity group.
