About APAP|NYC

The APAP|NYC conference is one of the largest gatherings of performers, agents, presenters, and producers in the world. Every January, the industry comes together to share its stories, experiences and insights from across the country and around the world. Annually, the conference focuses on new and emerging ideas affecting the field, wide-ranging speakers and opportunities to connect with arts leaders who shape what we see, hear and experience in the performing arts in the U.S. and globally.

APAP|NYC returns in person to New York City from January 12-16, 2024! Learn more here.

Advance registration for all events is required.

Media Credentials

Media credentials are limited to working press that register and receive confirmation that they will receive a credential to APAP|NYC+ 2023. This includes working press who cover the performing arts and related topics for one or more established news outlets. Freelancers who have applied and provided a letter from their editor stating the type of story they've been assigned to produce will be considered. We appreciate and ask that you send us links to or copies of your story/ies once they are posted, published or broadcasted. If you have not attended APAP|NYC in the past, samples of relevant published articles/stories are requested with your press credentials application.

All media must apply and be accepted by Friday, December 29, 2023 at 12 p.m. (EST). There will be no onsite registration for media.

We begin considering media applications the weeks leading up to the conference, on a rolling basis. We will confirm the status of your application weekly. Please check the schedule frequently for program updates.

Camera Crew Guidelines

Please note the following details related to filming and camera crew access, in particular as related to the EXPO Commons (formerly, the EXPO Hall). Advance attention to these requirements will make your visit more productive:

  • Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
  • Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
  • Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
  • All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
  • All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
  • A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
  • Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
  • If you need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting APAP;
  • You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
  • Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Commons should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts, and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours.

Media Requests and Contact

We encourage media, whether attending the conference in-person or not, to request interviews, quotes and photos in advance. Requests to interview CEO Lisa Richards Toney and/or members of the APAP leadership team during the conference will be considered based on availability. Audio and video recording of plenary sessions intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP.

Thank you for your interest in the Association of Performing Arts Professionals and in attending and covering our annual conference.
